Don't Buy a House From Lennar

  • Nathan C.
  • Verified HomeBuyer
  • November 28, 2019
  • San Antonio, TX

This review is not in regards to the location, the neighborhood, the local schools, etc... It is strictly about Lennar. I purchased a home from Lennar at the end of May 2019. My experience with Lennar before and after purchasing the home has been terrible. This company lacks communication, consistency, and quality, among other things. When we agreed to purchase the home that we liked, the closing date was originally set for early June 19. Lennar contacted us and said that the closing date could be moved up to mid-May. We agreed to that closing date. When that date finally came around, I ...

Overall, my experience with Lennar has been extremely disappointing. As a homeowner, I trusted that I was purchasing a safe, well-built property. Instead, I am dealing with serious safety hazards, potential structural/plumbing issues, and a lack of accountability from the builder.

Lennar responded:
Thank you Adriana for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that the quality of your home has not met your expectations. Your feedback is valuable and helps us continue to evaluate and improve our processes.

If there are any warrantable items that still need to be reviewed, please reach out to us by emailing CorporateCustomerCare@Lennar.com

The only positive thing I have to say about my experience is Evelyn on the loan side. She was extremely helpful in helping me! She literally did multiple jobs, because others were not. Multiple things went wrong through the whole process. First time buying a home and it’s been nonstop headache. I haven’t even made my first mortgage payment and my fence fell and Lennar refuses to fix it. Been w/out waste service and was getting the run around and come to find out, you have to have it set up w/ HOA. Which nobody told me, I learned that from the county office after not having trash service for ...

Lennar responded:
Good morning Jennifer, we appreciate you sharing your experience with us. We’re sorry to hear that not all aspects met your expectations, but we’re glad to hear Evelyn provided excellent service throughout your loan processing journey. Thank you for recognizing her efforts. We are committed to continuous improvement, and your feedback helps guide us in delivering a better experience. Sincerely, Lennar Corporate Customer Care

Finance was a nightmare, constantky saying one last thing. Then workmanship is shotty, some things caught before clising that they said they would fix. THEY LIED! DON'T TRUST. NASTY PEOPLE. Can't wait for Karma to pay them a visit.

Issues arise, I put tickets in. They get marked completed. Nothing‘s completed. The issues I had at my final walk-through still have not been done even though I’ve also put in more tickets and those have also been marked completed. I do not think there is insulation in parts of my house because the walls are paper thin I can hear people talking outside the vehicles on the road sound like I’m sitting in the road. I have a gas leak that has not been checked, even though I have made them aware. Also when they sent people to clean the house, they left the owners manual in the dishwasher and it ...

Ownership of issue and Trash Ownership

My tenant noticed gas leak smell at home and only resulted to finger pointing. Lennar pointing to Appliance Company and the Appliance Company pointing to plumbing and Gas Company. The Gas Company then pointing to the others. When nobody is taking ownership I expect Lennar to bring all of them together and get the issue resolved. My experience has been very painful 2 months into the purchase. Also at the purchase time I was not told that HOA is going to take trash ownership too. I was expecting trash to be another utility that the tenants owns and pays for. It makes no sense for it to be ...

The entire experience was trash from start to finish. Poor communication, wasted time, mixed messages, and zero follow through. I had to chase answers, repeat myself, and deal with unnecessary confusion that should never happen in a basic transaction. The only good part of this experience was Ana. She was helpful, responsive, and actually did her job. Without Ana, this would have been a complete failure. Everyone else dropped the ball. I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience

First off the experience was terrible. The only good thing is that the house is put together mostly right. Only here a month and a breaker went out already. I the buying process we had to drop 23,000 on closing costs because lennar did not cover anything. No offer or nothing to cover any of the cost on top of paying 261000 in a loan all because we did not use their loan officer or lender. We did not use their inspector either. The yard was done terrible and they only put in grass 15 feet from the back door. Our yard is at least 60 feet by 60 feet. The house was dirty when we arrived with dirt ...

It started out with the broken promises from sale people, managers to tittle. Lennar cheated in every step and trained their personnel to be as tricky as possible. I did not expect a high quality home when purchasing three of them at the same time, but these Lennar products were poorly designed and horrible built. When I pointed out the problems before the closing, they blocked my phone number and never addressed the problems.the vinyl flooring has large gaps, ceiling corners cracked wide open, it look like the house had been thought an earthquake! I was informed before closing and after the initial inspection that I paid for that all deficiencies would be fixed. There was a minor crack in the outside foundation. I commented about it and was told by the independent inspector. Don't worry the builders correct that. After I paid wired funds I had to sign off on repairs being completed. There i was told: company policy says we don't fix that crack. They don't put a glaze on it either. I was informed about 8 missing window blinds were a deficiency. Same response: company policy we don't fix that. I was also brought to the ...

The staff was generally unhelpful, often disrespectful, and consistently untimely. The overall workmanship and quality of materials used in the home are subpar. When I moved in, the house appeared hastily assembled—there was glue left on the floors (which is still there, as the property manager was unable to remove it), and multiple cabinets were misaligned and required adjustment. Several doors and paint areas were left incomplete or showed noticeable yellowing. The paint has been cracked since day one and continues to worsen, despite multiple requests for repair. Overall, the quality and ...

My whole experience was horrible. From start to end. Even after I closed the house was gross, the construction guy did not fixed the window that I pointed out during my last walk. They took forever to do the final city inspection even after I had already closed on the house. My gas was cut off because no one informed me that the city had done the inspection several weeks after I closed even though I would call weekly and could never get answers. Buying from Lennar has been one of the most frustrating experiences. They rushed the build of our home, clearly more focused on putting up houses for numbers than on quality. From day one, we were handed dead grass and trees — it looked neglected before we even moved in. When issues come up, they fight you every step of the way. Instead of standing behind their work, they make the process of getting anything fixed extremely difficult. To make matters worse, they only repair drywall cracks once, even though more appear as the house settles. Most recently spilled chemical in my yard and ...

NEVER BUY FROM LENNAR

Lennar is the only affordable builder in San Antonio and they take advantage of that distinction. Lowest quality builder grade materials are used. Construction manager lied three different times that issues identified by third-party inspector were resolved. Later, he couldn't distinguish between main water line or hot/cold water lines. Internet service is mandatory so that builder receives a kickback for every new buyer and it is NOT included in your HOA fees. There is an additional monthly charge. Was always told never to buy this builder by multiple realtor friends but went ahead anyways because I liked the house itself. Getting a response or getting them to take care of pressing issues was like pulling teeth. If you’re not prepared to continuously harass them for a response on any issue you have don’t buy here. As a first time home buyer this was an extremely disappointing and stressful experience. All these people want is your money, they don’t care about anything else. I bought 2 homes and had the worst experience with Marshall the loan officer. He treated us like 2nd rate citizens and gate kept the entire process.
