KB Home has a great reputation name but at the Mockingbird home the sales staff, and Office staff, we had a horrible experience. I would never buy another home from KB.

I got my keys to my house on October 22, 2021. My escrow was delayed for two months because KB could not finish building my home on time. I had to get two extensions from my lenders. Once I got my keys two months later, I started doing improvements to my house. I found out that there was a lot of things that was wronged with my new home. For example: 1) I got shocked from the electricity up in the attic because the light switch was not inside of the electricity box. 2) the tiles on my roof was broken and not correctly aligned with the house. 3) the fire sprinklers wasn't correctly secure, the fire sprinklers' caps was lose and falling off the ceiling. 4) My rain gutter keeps leaking from the joints. 5) Master bedroom shower wasn't caulk properly, lots of missing caulk. 6) cabinets trim was coming off because it was loose. 7) my ceiling drywall has cracked in it. 8) light fixtures on my garage wasn't level or center. 9) electricity outlet in one of my room doesn't work. 10) My master bedroom bathroom had a hairline crack. 11) my windows sill paint was coming off. That's some of the problems I'm having Kb builder. However; Brian (area construction manager) did come out to my house to discuss and address all my problems and concerns. Tyler from the design studio was amazing! There were a few major things that really affected my rating. The first is when we toured the models with the sales rep we were lied to about included features. The second was they installed the wrong cabinets initially. We had to bring it to their attention because no one realized the mistake. The final thing was after doing the final walk through and marking the items that needed to be fixed we were promised they would be fixed by closing. Only half the items were corrected. Overall I am very happy with my new home. I had several issues prior to my closing date and with it being a tight time frame between closing and having to move out of my previous living situation I had to let some stuff go that was never fixed, being told it would get done in 1-6 weeks. I have been at my property for almost 2 months now with none of that stuff getting remedied, but once that gets done I will be a lot happier.

Good workmanship with quality products. A good sound home

Good for the most part there are things that should have been included that just made common sense

Keep on top of issues and make sure they take care of the issues ASAP.

Everything is very quick except the building of the house. A lot of unexpected issues pop up.

Too many unnecessary delays that prolonged the building process.

Overall my experience with sales and finance were great. However the workmanship and follow up are very poor I still have issues with my home that should have been addressed prior to closing.

If you want updated appliances other than standard black and white cabinets, carpet, tile, flooring, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, doors, internet connection housing, etc. You will have to pay out of pocket. All of the items that come with the build are the same style items used in the selections from 20 or more years ago. It hasn't been changed and it is poor quality, so you will considerably find yourself increasing the price of your home due to selects but not the value of your home. Prepare a budget if you know that you don't want the basics for your home selects. If you are okay with upgrading your selects after your home buying process, then happy home buying and enjoy. Also, the new kb homes come with pest control unit built in the home which is awesome compared to older KB homes in the late 90s. Make sure the carpenter caulk properly and you schedule for pest control sooner than later because the buggs, ants, spiders and all small criters are coming into your home through the crevices of the bricks, stucco, and the fiber cement. It isn't pleasant having to deal with it in your brand new home. It become very stressful to deal with. Also, Cosmetic stressors....be prepared if your doorknobs start falling off one by one, I haven't figured out why they become loose and will not stay tightened. But waiting for someone to come and fix them. Also, ask to make sure that all weeds arekilled and gone before sod is laid otherwise your sod will be taken over by weeds and lsndscape will take some extra tlc to groom it back to a beautiful lawn. Make sure you get gutters and all of your plates as I am missing one. If you are choosing a stucco home and a light color, please know that it will not appear as that color on stucco and KB will not add any additional coats to get it close to the visual view of the color unless you pay out of pocket. My advice is to choose a darker color. Some homes in the neighborhood seem to not turn out that way with a light color but my home did. It wasn't a pleasant experience. Enjoy your KB home! ... More

Better make sure you get all your final adjustments taken care of before you sign the final papers because at least one of the construction managers will ignore you after that!!!

Purchasing a home during this pandemic season was a challenge. However, the delays associated with supplies are not the issues that were most frustrating. Rather, the biggest challenges we faced, were related to communication. During the initial purchase process, we were updated frequently. As time went on, communications became more frustrating, as it began to appear that the "right hand did not know what the left hand was doing". At times, we were even given conflicting information, dependent upon with whom we were in contact. The greatest of these challenges arose as we neared the closing of escrow. Again, understanding that some of these were due to unforeseen pandemic related issues, when it actually came time to close, we were bombarded with, sometimes conflicting communications, pressuring us to close. The urgency to close seemed to be tied to month-end sales goals, negatively impacting the customer/buyer experience. At this time, the customer experience declined sharply. Aside from communication issues, the closing process was so rushed that when we had our walk-through, it was very apparent that there had not even been time for the builder team to perform a preliminary walk-through! As a result, there were a number of issues that might have been "caught" and corrected BEFORE we, the buyer, even entered the home. For example, one bedroom was missing the heating/air vent in the ceiling! And, I can't help but believe, that had there been time for a "pre" walk-through, the site supervisor(s) would have caught this. Equally as disappointing, at the time we took possession, was the amount of finish work that still needed to be completed. Additionally, the floors, windows, countertops, showers, and sinks, had not been cleaned! Lastly, more of an annoyance, than disappointment, is the fact that user manuals, spare parts, etc. were strewn about various drawers throughout the house. Unfortunately, the experience at the time of closing, negated the excitement of finally taking possession of our new home! Having spent a career in sales, and customer experience management, I am very surprised by the lack of it, at KB Homes. I understand that we are living in unprecedented times, but it is during these times that communications and customer care should be at their highest levels! Please note: Throughout the buying/building process, the sales and loan agents, along with the onsite construction supervisor, were very responsive. And, since taking possession of our home in August, the response from the local customer care manager has been great! The closing process, however, took what could have been a 10, on a scale of 1-10, to a 6 at best! ... More

Home shopping is a long process, but once you find a place and are committed to a home, and then watch it be build up from the ground up, it’s an amazing feeling knowing you and yours will have a place call HOME, but issues do arise when you move in into a new home, you start to notice appliances are not what you expected, minor paint issues, I now somethings got over looked but once you create a list and got a hold of those in charge of making corrections, that’s the part I dislike…it’s been 2 months and some of my concerns HAVE NOT been met…

The design studio sessions were of great importance and help.

Overall the process was a good experience but the communication from our superintendent was not very good. Felt like we were in the dark most of the time. We had to ask questions and initiate all communication.

Good price, bad workmanship & materials

The walk throughs were a bit rushed, and didnt give us the time to fully walk through the home to point out touch ups and or defects. Also noticed alot of the neighborhood has built in sprinkler systems and this was never an option for my fiancé and i .

Overall everything is ok, but my main concern is the backyard right side of wall it’s too low compared to all other walls on my neighbors.

Kb homes warranty is great. The only issue are the 3rd party companies they use to fix problems can take awhile to get done. Marco electric didnt show up twice when scheduled.

If they would finish right the first time and not have to come back to fix things ,our experience would have been great .

The customer service isn't that great.

They installed defective faucet in my both bathroom, it has slow dripping water underneath my sink they did fix more then 6 times still have been the same issue.
