Buying experience was great. Getting things resolved now after the fact has been a task.

My husband and I chose Highland Homes because, in the past, we have had great experiences with the builder. Our experience in the building process was very good, but once we moved in, we learned that there are things that were done poorly that will not be fixed because they're not "warrantable items." It is disappointing that things are breaking and materials aren't of the quality that we paid and now we have to deal with it. Sales process was easy. My sales consultant did a great job. The home is beautiful. We got everything we wanted. Now, the attention to the little details is HORRIBLE. There are so many things that need to get fix that if the workers would have been paying attention, it would have gotten done correctly the 1st time. Now, I'm having to take time away from my week to be here for repairs. It's ridiculous and very annoying.

Cheaply made cabinets. Had wiring issues, split base boards, garage door issue, back door to the house howls when the wind blows and drainage issues in the back yard. For the price of the house you would think we would not have so many issues. I spent 100k less for my last house and never had this many issues.

I’ll start with the positives and say the ladies (Debbie & Lindsay) in the sales office were amazing. Best experience we had when it comes to home-buying. They were on top of their game and pleasant to work with. Doug Dreiman was great and continues to answer our questions three months after closing. However, we’re disappointed with our home experience after closing. Most service requests have been fulfilled in a timely manner. However, there are details in and outside our home that lack quality and remain to be resolved. We flagged issue before closing that were told were resolved but were ignored. WE have trusses sticking out on our roof and told that’s just what it is. The white trim boards in our home were poorly installed with nails and blemishes that are noticeable. We had a used dishwasher in our home that was registered to someone else, were told no reason to cover up the cracked grout on the foundation because it will crack, and found a broken shower rod in a restroom but was told it’s better to buy one ourselves. Three months into our home and we’re still waiting on items we flagged before closing. I would highly recommend not to close or sign till the house is to your liking. I would also recommend hiring your own inspector, not sure if Highland resolved issues on their inspection report. ... More

The loan process was very smooth and easy.

We purchased a new home in homestead community. The buying process was great from Terri to the financial was seamless. We had an issue with the garage door they fixed and took care of very quickly which was great. However I feel the used the cheapest products in the home from the carpet which looks like it’s 10 years old after only 2 months. We only have three people living in the house and we don’t abuse or walk back and forth like a busy street for it to be worn down so quickly. Also faucets and other products used were very cheap quality. We also have no mailbox after months of living in the house and we have been getting the run around on when we will have a mailbox. We currently have to go back and forth to the post office to get mail! The sod that was put down is subpar full of weeds and just throw down most smooth lumps and looks bad, hard to mow! Noticed careless craftsmanship after being in the house as well after paying 500k you would think you would get a quality product sadly I don’t !! ... More

We were pleased overall with our building experience with Highland Homes. There were some quality of workmanship issues with some of the finishing crews at the end of our build, but our builder was helpful in trying to resolve those issues. Some have been resolved, and others still have a resolution being worked towards. That part has been very frustrating for a new homeowner.

Home is very beautiful. Seems to be very well built with the exception of a few things where you can tell the workers cut corners and didn’t care. Also a few little warranty items, but that’s to be expected with a new build. Overall happy with our decision to build with Highland.

Our experience with Highland has been great. Sales and the CM are very responsive. I would have given all five stars but we have a few pending to be addressed. In all honesty we are a bit disappointed with the quality of the paint work. It is noticeable where certain areas need to second coat of paint.

My wife and I love the home; however, our AC unit is not up to par. The temp in the house is 72 degrees, but the humidity level has been as high as 83%. We bought a small portable dehumidifier to help control the humidity level to something a little more tolerable, like 50-55%.

My experience with Highland did not meet the level of quality I expected. The team is very attentive during the sales process, but once closing is complete, the follow‑up and customer support seem to disappear. Follow‑through is one of the most important parts of any home purchase, and Highland needs to remember that. The workmanship has the potential to be excellent, but only if the crews take their time and do the job correctly the first time. For example, I watched a worker remove a tree from my backyard. Even though he had bags of planting soil on his truck, he chose instead to fill the hole with dry dirt taken from the empty lot next door. Why weren’t the bags of topsoil used in my yard as intended? Situations like this undermine confidence in Highland’s quality and attention to detail. ... More

The issues we have are all post move-in for and finish and the lack of responsiveness and caring. Things were told to us that never occurred or multiple tickets were submitted for the same issue over the course of weeks. At week eight there are still unresolved issues from move in.

Working with the Highland office girls and the construction supervisor has been overall positive. I have been in the home since mid November, and continue to find things that the actual construction workers missed doing or did poorly. I guess it's hard to find good carpentry these days. The Highland homes have good curb appeal, that's what caught my eye.

I will preface this message by saying our experience with the sales counselor, Thea, and on site construction supervisor. Chuck, has been positive. However, I don’t believe that our Highland home was/is a good value. There were issues before we moved in. There have been issues that we continue to deal with and new items of poor quality and craftsmanship seem to surface almost daily. We had heard very positive comments about the quality of Highland homes, and I believe in other homes, that’s accurate, however, this home does not appear to have been built in the same manner. My list of items to be addressed continues to grow, but we really would like someone at the corporate level to either come to our house or talk with us directly about these ongoing issues and overall poor quality. Very dissatisfied with a nearly $700,000 home! ... More
