A lot of bad details

Centex homes are great starter homes but you must stay on top of construction to make sure every thing is correct.

Windows, garage door, yard, just the overall experience that i went through to buy the house left a sour taste in my mouth and even the realtor would choose the same. I wouldnt do it again

I was definitely in a rush to purchase a home and would recommend to anyone looking to purchase with centex to check check and check again. That goes for paperwork, construction, and craftsmanship in the home

The trades and people who physically worked on the house was very poor quality and needed to be redone multiple times throughout the whole build process. The land scape was very poor to the point where most of it need to be redone and paid for by the home owner (myself). That includes uneven bed lines around mulched areas, the dirt that was used to level and grade the yard was extremely poor quality (rocks all throughout yard) and uneven when grass was laid making mowing and yard work very difficult. This was the same impression throughout the neighborhood, also the sprinkler system was done terribly (whoever did it shouldn’t be doing sprinkler systems period). Cheap light fixtures and plumbing fixtures. No top grade placed before laying a poor quality bermuda grass on the yard. Developer (Pulte/Centex) doesn't take care of it's designated land (sidewalks, berms, drainage area). No homeowner representation on HOA.

The house is a beautiful house and we got it for a great price, but there are some things that I have issues with. Some of the walls are crooked. We had been told we would get a paint kit when we closed to touch up minor blemishes, but yet again day after day we are let down. The fininacial portion of the house was very smooth. No issues there.

Make sure u run the water all at the same time to make sure the plumbing was done correctly and don’t have issues

Make the time to go through each phase of the build.

Poor attic insulation ,the floor needs adjustment, the walls begin to show nails. the plaster of the foundation is falling, never received parts of the kitchen cabinets, the main room is very hot with respect to the rest of the house, never received the paintings that were used in the house

I would've given the Summit by pulte/centex 4 stars for value for price paid, BUT for one HUGE reason - their TWO-CAR garage doesn't fit ONE regular sized short-bed crewcab truck! One of the MAIN reasons I purchased a home was so I could safely park my truck when I went on long out of town journeys (which I do for at least 6 months in a year), so I was quite shocked to find out that my truck didn't fit (another 1 1/2 feet of depth of garage would've helped) inside the garage. When I reported it to the Pulte folks, they didn't bother to respond for several days and even when they did, they just told me "get a smaller vehicle"! You'd think that a single family home with a decent lot size IN TEXAS would fit a regular sized short bed pickup truck! I'll never ever buy a Pulte/centex home nor would I recommend it to any friends or family either. ... More

Needs to focus more in final details

The people helping set up and follow up on the buying process were fantastic and have no issues with this process. The walkthroughs were great I was being told things are checked and double checked. The problem now is I keep having issues with electrical, plumbing, and now windows leaking during rain. I was against buying a new house for fear of these reasons, these reasons that I was told shouldn’t be a problem. I keep having to take whole days off work just to be here to fix all these problems. Our home buying experience was nothing more than average. I do not feel that Centex does anything over and beyond. We have had several complaints about our home since we moved in, none of which have been addressed. I absolutely would go with a different builder in the future. We have a home, so that’s a plus. But, there is nothing special about this builder. If you are looking to be mediocre, you are doing great.

I chose a newly constructed home over a fixer upper, because I did not want to deal with the workmen and hassle of sourcing materials etc, however it feels like a fixer upper, the finish is very poor. the floor is dull, the bathroom panels are not sealed and have gaps, I am worried water is going to seeped thru the gaps and I am going to have mold. the accessories are cheap and outdated, the front door at least could have a door handle instead of the round doorknob. the bedroom doors have closet doorknobs and cannot lock, the toilet seats and cover are heavy, I have not seen those heavy toilets and round knobs in a very long time, no bathroom windows in 2022. back door the space for the dead bolt is not chiseled out properly, some base board are not corked fully, there was grout, paint and dirty spots all over the floors and walls plugs are sealed and flat to the walls, the light switches are dated. the master bathroom could take a double sink, could have left an open space under the staircase. pantry too small and wire shelves way too narrow. The community could use a pool especially because it gets so hot during the summer and a play ground would have been nice. we could have gotten ceiling fans. I feel like, we just got the bare bones, saw same design by Lenar and the finish was much better. to say the least I love the house but disappointed in the finish product. sunken lights in the kitchen, we are in the 21st century. We could use some noise reduction windows considering, we are so close to the where the train passes and honks consistently. Please make some improvements for the future homes thank you ... More

The home ostelf is nice and, if made with care, would have been a great home. Unfortunately, I was not given any spicket for the backyard, the floors creek, and laying down the sod was shoddy. Make sure you notice as much as you can before closing because after you do, good luck getting something worked on.

Price is pretty comparable to other builders. The work however…SHODDY WORKMANSHIP!!! I wish I could post pictures. The turnaround time on the home was FAST but unfortunately the workmanship suffers. All the work from the cement subfloor to the paint and texture to the cabinets is poorly done. Unfortunately, we did not notice the majority of these things until we moved in. We closed two months earlier than expected so that should’ve been a red flag!!! Salesman and construction manager were very communicative though!

There are lots of small things which are not complete.

The Centex team were helpful and worked to get us in the house but the quality of the home is subpar. Windows are misshapen, walls aren’t straight, grass was laid poorly, etc. We’re not pleased and we might have made a mistake buying a home from Centex.

Multiple issues not resolved throughout the home. Two walkthroughs with blue tape and still issues remained. Doors not properly sealing. Two of the rooms in the "Smart home" did not have the ethernet cables terminated or cut into the walls. The filter was missing for the AC, when they finally installed it, it was a used and very clearly dirty filter, if I could post the picture I would, absolutely gross, Trash left in the AC unit, and cabinet doors installed backwards, Exterior of home has misaligned panels. Several blue tape items existed and only some of them were corrected before closing. Several issues/items still exist that were never corrected. Overall workmanship on building the house is not satisfactory. Overall responsiveness from construction manager and sales representative were unsatisfactory.

I love my home. Centex conceptualizes a beautiful look and appeal. My concern is workmanship it was poor all around. I never had a final walk through it was a 1001 things some major some minor that’s needed repair. Everything from the walkway to the bathrooms constant workmanship issues. And the response has been horrific I’m in two months now and still waiting for repairs to be completed. From spilling paint in carpet to, to broken cabinets in kitchen, to unleveled doors and crooked trim and every crooked placed Sheetrock and ripples in the ceiling. Its the contracted workers poor installment, as if they were unskilled. It has been so bad I’m been depressed about the entire move. It was the experience I thought I would have walking into my new home. Exceedingly disappointed. Positives are the home is gorgeous the materials appear to be quality and emphasize the beauty. Staff are very friendly. Finishes are extremely poor. It hard not to know where to direct your concerns and everybody would say it'll get fixed, but that's is not going to happen. They hide warranty information, so they can cover their back. The grass in front and back yard that was installed was brown with the excused that was winter time. Spring is almost over and there are more than half of the grass that still brown (with the right watering). Also, a lot of big bumps all over the front and back yard. At the moment of the installation, they said that those bumps would settle, but of course, that never happened. ... More

There was a lack of communication, took 5 months longer than originally planned and had multiple AC leaks within the first week. It was a horrible experience overall.

Rushed work quality. For starters, Paint and drywall left behind on floors and carpets, texture blemishes, sod placed over the top of construction debris and very uneven lumpy/bumpy ground, trees not planted in correct locations as per my requests. Property is constantly covered in construction trash from the centex build next door, siding was damaged from neighboring construction.
